Responsible use
Our position on who we supply, what the platform is for, and the lines we will not cross. Last updated 12 August 2026.
What ForensicsGuard is for
ForensicsGuard is built for lawful, authorised, evidence-driven forensic analysis. It exists to help investigators understand what a device and a network were doing, to preserve that understanding as defensible evidence, and to build institutional capability for that work.
It does not provide offensive surveillance capabilities and is not designed to spy on people. We do not build interception products for use against networks the operator does not control, and we do not build tooling intended to be concealed from the person whose device it runs on.
How we assess enquiries
We assess enquiries against this position before we engage. That assessment considers who the prospective user is, what they intend to use the platform for, the environment it would be deployed into, and whether the intended use is consistent with lawful, authorised investigation.
We decline enquiries that do not fit. We would rather lose an opportunity than supply a capability into a use we do not think is defensible.
Our commitments
- No offensive surveillance positioning
- No guaranteed-detection claims
- No replacement for qualified judgement
- Formal cases require expert interpretation
- No customer names published without permission
- No certification claimed that we do not hold
Obligations
What we require of the organisations we supply
The platform observes activity. That capability carries obligations, and they sit with the organisation operating it.
- Lawful authority must exist and be established first Observation of a network or examination of a device requires lawful authority under the applicable jurisdiction. Establishing it is the operator's responsibility, not ours, and the platform cannot establish it for you.
- Observation must be limited to authorised environments The Guardian is designed to observe a network the operator controls and has authorised. It is not to be used against networks or communications outside that authorisation.
- Mobile Sensors are installed with authorisation The Mobile Sensor is an ordinary installed application, visible on the device. It is not to be deployed covertly against a device holder.
- Findings require qualified interpretation Detection output prioritises analyst attention. It is not a conclusion, and it should not be presented as one.
Export control
Dual-use and export obligations
Technology for network observation and forensic analysis can fall within dual-use export-control regimes, and supply of it can be subject to licensing, end-user screening, and sanctions and embargo restrictions depending on the jurisdictions involved.
We take these obligations seriously. Supply is subject to our assessment of the prospective end user and end use, and to compliance with the export-control and sanctions requirements applicable to the transaction. We may require end-user information as a condition of supply, and we may decline or discontinue supply where we are not satisfied.
Organisations acquiring the platform are responsible for compliance with the import, use and re-export requirements applicable to them.
If you are assessing us
Procurement and compliance teams evaluating ForensicsGuard should raise export-control and end-use questions directly with us early. We would rather answer them at the start than discover a problem at contract stage. support@forensicsguard.org
